Kay Rivers Kidd, music director and pianist

Kay, a native of Elgin, Texas, is musical director and pianist for her group, Kay and Friends, and performs as a soloist and in ensembles in North America and Europe, in festivals, workshops and recording sessions devoted to chamber music, popular, and folk music.  Solo and with her colleagues she has played for countless weddings and receptions. Owning and operating a private piano studio in her home in south Austin, she is a past president and “Teacher of the Year” for the Austin District Music Teachers Association.  She is a church organist and pianist and for many years has been the staff pianist for Tarrytown United Methodist Church in Austin. Kay has served on music-related boards in the Austin area, and is dedicated to fostering love for the arts. Kay frequently gives lecture/performances on various topics (such as The History of Music in Texas, and other periods and genres of music) for many organizations, schools, and at special events.

James Warth, saxophone/clarinet/flute

Jim, a transplanted Texan from Columbia, South Carolina, has received degrees from the University of South Carolina and The University of Texas at Austin. He has served on the music faculty of Texas A&M University-Kingsville in South Texas since 1992, following several years as a private studio teacher and performer in Austin. He performs regularly with the Corpus Christi Symphony on bass clarinet and saxophone, and has performed with the Rotterdam Philharmonic and the Nova Saxophone Quartet. His discography includes two recordings with the Nova Quartet on the Musical Heritage Society label: Innovations and Double Image.  Jim's student jazz bands at Texas A&M University-Kingsville are widely acclaimed for their award-winning performances.  Under Jim's inspiring leadership, participating in this jazz program has become a coveted honor among students who aspire to excel in this area of music.

Javier Chaparro, violin

Born in Lima, Peru, Javier has lived in Texas since 1982. He was concert master of the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra for thirteen years and has performed in the United States, Europe, and South America. In addition to his extensive concertizing as a soloist and in orchestral and chamber ensembles and jazz groups, he performs and records with his own groups, Los Romanceros and the Europa Trio, and the Chaparro jazz quartet. Javier and Kay perform soothing classical music on their compact disc "Classical Sunsets." Javier is a gifted and prolific singer/songwriter, writing for films as well, and has recently released his second CD with Salúd.

Arthur Kidd, percussion and vocals

Art grew up in Houston and is a veteran of many tours on which he has led bands and orchestras on cruise ships all over the world. Art maintains an exciting schedule, performing locally and abroad. He is much in demand for bands doing an incredible variety of styles, from Austin-based singer/songwriter Christine Albert to well-known jazz groups. His natural and easy vocal style matches his talent on percussion. A graduate of Yale University with a B.A. in English, Art is also a massage therapist and reflexologist. A physical fitness aficionado, he is locally notorious for swimming every day of the year in Barton Springs, even when there is ice on the ground!
